(The updated information shown below applies only to weddings booked after 01/02/12)
Congratulations on your engagement and I thank you for the opportunity to photograph your wedding.
I am a documentary wedding photographer providing elegant and emotive reportage photography, my aim is to work in an unobtrusive and relaxed manner to provide natural and beautiful images that perfectly capture the essence of your day.
The majority of the photographs taken are during the normal flow of the day in a photojournalist manner without intrusion nor instruction. However at your discretion I am also very happy to provide a select number of group shots as required and a few naturally posed portraits of the bride and groom to utilise the surroundings.
I always try to work quickly and quietly, allowing you and your guests to relax and enjoy yourselves and for me to produce a unique visual record of your special day.

Over the course of the last year I have been listening to feedback from my clients regarding the packages I offer and, now that some new types of album have become available, I have used this information to put together a completely new price list for 2012/ 2013 that I hope is clearer and offers something for everybody. I want you to be able to have the type of photography coverage I can offer without being restricted by price or what is available. One big change with this price list is that I now offer a copyright-free disk of all of your edited photographs in a printable format with every package!
One thing I would like to make clear from the outset is that, regardless of the package you choose, my service to you and the range and quality of the pictures you will receive after your wedding will be the same. The differences between the prices of the packages are attributable simply to the fact that they offer slightly different lengths of coverage and different finished products. Other than that, there really is no difference!
When you have looked through my website and blog and hopefully decided that I am the photographer you want you should then use the contact form on my website to get in touch. Using the information you provide I can then check my availability for your wedding date and send you an email with instructions for downloading the latest price list. The price list does of course give details of the packages available but I wanted to expand on that here a little to give you more information about what exactly you will get from me as your photographer.

Your next choice will relate to whether or not you would like an album and, if you do, which album you would then like to choose.
The most basic option is the disk-only Digital Package. If you want to choose the disk-only option then you will be supplied with a DVD disk of all of your edited photographs at full-resolution and without any watermarks / copyright notices. They will have all been colour corrected and retouched where necessary and will be ready for printing. You can then use this disk to print as many copies of your photographs at any size you wish. I will give you a covering letter granting you a license to print the pictures to avoid any potential problems at the printers...
A lot of past customers have taken the disk-only option with the intention of putting together their own album. If you manage to get one done for yourself then that’s excellent but, if you are like the majority of customers who never quite manage to get around to it, you are always welcome to come back after the wedding and happily work with you to design an album for you.
The first of the different types of albums I offer are the two Studio albums. The Studio albums are made by Australian album manufacturer Jorgensen and are in a square Storybook format or a square Matted format. As with the more expensive albums I offer, the interior layout of the albums will be uniquely designed specifically for you using the photographs you choose. The Studio albums both have fixed numbers of pages – 30 pages or 40 pages depending upon which level of coverage you choose - and have either a black or white cover without a photograph on the front. There is a lot of extra information about the Studio Storybook albums and the Studio Matted albums here.
The second types of albums I use are the two Bespoke Albums. They are different from the Studio albums because they are larger and offer enormous amounts of flexibility to customise many aspects of the way they will look and the amount of photographs they will hold. Because the two types of Bespoke Albums are larger than the Studio Albums you can easily fit in more pictures and, although the packages already include 90 or 100 of your photographs over 36 or 40 pages respectively, you can always add extra pages, in pairs, up to a maximum size of 60 pages should you want to keep more. Interestingly, sometimes customers wonder when they come to meet me before their wedding day whether they will be able to choose as many as 90 pictures but I can assure you that you will find it very hard to whittle away enough pictures to bring the number down to that. In fact a large percentage of my customers take away 50 page albums on a regular basis!
Like the smaller Studio Albums, the Bespoke albums come in two types, Storybook and Matted. You can find information about the differences between these two albums here. Both of these albums are completely custom-made to your specifications. You can choose from over 25 different cover colours and materials, including leather, several of which can be combined into a Duo cover (a percentage of the cover can be one colour and the rest another). You can add a 10cm x 10cm photograph to the front of the cover to personalise it further or even have the whole of the front cover composed entirely of one of your specially laminated and bonded photographs. For the Storybook style albums the pages can be black or white and for the Matted albums they can have black mounts with a white bevel-cut core or all-white mounts.
--------------------
For both the Studio Album packages and the Bespoke Album packages there are two levels of coverage - the length of time I will be at your wedding taking pictures. For every one of the packages I offer I will start some time before the wedding ceremony itself at the location where the bride is getting ready, with agreement from you of course! (There is a whole article about this here) I can shoot lovely pictures at this time of the day that really capture the atmosphere of the preparations and I work with the utmost sensitivity and promise not to get in the way. However I understand that you might be nervous about me being in your house or hotel at that time of the day and will be very happy to start at the ceremony instead if you would prefer. I will then take pictures continually throughout the day up to the end of the speeches, whether they are just before or just after the wedding breakfast. If you would like me to stay a bit longer to give more complete coverage then I can also stay on for the first 30 minutes or so of the dancing in the evening.
I don’t work to specific times and will start whenever you would like me to and, if it all runs late in the evening and the first dance starts at 9pm instead of 8pm then that’s absolutely fine. Sometimes I am asked to go along earlier in the day to photograph a spot of pre-wedding archery and that is absolutely fine – just make sure I get a cup of tea and a scone to keep me going through the day.
--------------------
Aside from the specific differences between the packages listed above they do still all share certain features. Here is a list of what you can expect and what is covered as standard regardless of the package you choose:
- A disk of all of your edited photographs in a full-resolution printable format.
- Photography of your wedding in a true reportage / photo-journalistic style with as many, or as few, group pictures as you like.
- I will take an unlimited number of photographs on the day, edit them all for you and supply you with about 240 to 340 to choose from depending upon the level of coverage you choose.
- I like to use a mixture of colour and black and white images and you will be given a good mixture to choose from. If, however, you want a colour image made black and white, or vice versa, then I can nearly always do that for you.
- All of your preview photographs will be added to my reprint website in a secure password-protected area so that you and your friends and family can view your photographs and order any reprints or parent’s albums they might like.
- You will be send a CD with a presentation on it and you will use this to view all of your photographs so that you can choose the ones you want for your album.
- When I send you your preview disk I also include several printed sheets of ‘thumbnail images’ of all of your photographs for you to use as a handy quick reference guide.
- I love traveling to different parts of the country to photograph weddings and do not charge any extra for traveling expenses except for any ferry tickets that might be needed if your wedding is on one of the islands (Arran or Rothesay, for example). If I need to use a ferry I simply ask for a reimbursement of the actual cost.
After all of the explanations about set packages I must add that I have always been very keen to tailor my service to suit the needs of my clients. Almost every aspect of what has been described above can be changed and I will always be happy to discuss this with you. I have also been known to offer the odd discount here and there, especially if your wedding sounds fun and will be interesting to cover. Photography is my hobby as well as my job and, believe it or not, I do actually enjoy taking photographs at a lot of weddings. However, I know that I miss out on some great weddings so, if you think your wedding is going to be something a bit different but my package prices don’t fit into your budget then please do get in touch – I would love to hear about your wedding plans and can be persuaded to photograph anything in return for slice of cake!
